Since 1 January 2026, no e-vignette is needed for coastal roads H5 and H6.
Which vehicle category?
Class 1 · motorcycles
For single-track motor vehicles. For three-wheeled models, DARS uses track width: vehicles with a track of up to 50 cm are treated as single-track.
Class 2A · cars and motorhomes
Typically cars up to 3.5 t with a height above the front axle of up to 1.30 m. Motorhomes up to 3.5 t are class 2A regardless of this height, provided they are recognised as motor caravans.
Class 2B · taller vans and light goods vehicles
Two-track vehicles up to 3.5 t with a height above the front axle of 1.30 m or more under the DARS classification. This includes many vans and light goods models, including those carrying passengers.

Where is the height measured?
Measure from the ground to the highest point of the vehicle in the transverse vertical plane passing through the centre of the front axle. This is not the overall roof height measured at an arbitrary point.
DARS maintains a list of measured class 2B models. According to its guidance, a model not on this list is considered class 2A. The list identifies specific model variants.
Motorhome, caravan or trailer
- Motorhome up to 3.5 t: class 2A regardless of height above the front axle. For a converted van, its use as a motor caravan must be supported by its documents and the required permanently installed equipment.
- Trailer or towed caravan: no separate e-vignette is required when the towing motor vehicle falls under the vignette system up to 3.5 t. Use the category of the towing vehicle, regardless of the trailer's maximum mass.
- Motor vehicle over 3.5 t: use the DarsGo system.

Karavanke and vignette validity
Karavanke has a separate toll: 9.00 EUR for vehicles up to 3.5 t, including trailers. Slovenia-to-Austria traffic pays at Hrušica. DARS - Karavanke.
Annual vignettes valid on 1 December 2025 were automatically extended by four months. Vignettes starting from 2 December 2025 have the usual 12-month validity. Extension and expiry check.
The coastal H5/H6 exemption covers Škofije - Koper - Izola and the Markovec tunnel, but not the A1 towards Ljubljana. Map of exempt sections.
